What good is a website that you can't take with you? Well here at Higher Learning Studios we asked ourselves the same question, but couldn't find the right answer. Instead we just did something else really cool, which is create a Portfolio CD.
What is the Portfolio CD?
It's a mini CD (sometimes called a "pocket CD") that has a version of the HLS website that is complete with samples of work for your viewing pleasure in your very own home. It is a good way to check out what there is to offer, since you can take it with you or pass it along to a co-worker that has nothing better to do.
Where can I get a Portfolio CD?
They are handed out at functions such as portfolio shows or meetings.
Are they available for download?
No, you have to get one in person. Besides, everything that is on the CD is on this website along with much more cool stuff to check out.
Is there more than one Portfolio CD?
Yes, in theory. At any given time there is only one current version of the CD being handed out. However, as newer versions are created the prior versions are no longer produced. The catch is those older version can last for some time and are sure to pop up when you least expect it. Therefore, if you aren't sure what version you have, keep reading.
How do I know what version I have?
Except for the original version, every Portfolio CD has an ID number on the label. That ID is simply the month and year the CD was created, along with version letter, in case more than one was created in the same month.
The original version, which was handed out during the Westwood College Portfolio Show in December 2005, is Dec-05a. Since that was a prototype and it had a few errors on it, a better version was created, which was Dec-05c.
New Version: Jan-06a has been released! This version replaces all prior versions.
